It is with sadness that I do this tribute to Roger Moore, who has died at the age of 89. As a big Bond fan, Moore is a big icon of mine who essayed the part of 007 for the longest time and most films. His slightly lighter and suave touch was charming throughout. He was in countless other great movies, but for me he’ll always be Bond. May he rest in peace as a stylish and cultured gentleman.

Sad news about Manchester, and now this too. 😦
One of my favourite Bond moments of his was the car stunt scene in The Man with the Golden Gun. Pure escapism.

He lived a long and successful life. I can’t say that I thought he was a great actor, but nobody could lift an eyebrow like Roger!

For me he’ll always be the Saint. What a great tv show was that. And way before his James Bond career. Great loss for the tv and movie scene. May he rest in peace

A great actor, and definitely one that will be missed. Even though he has lived to be 89, some people simply are ageless. A sad day indeed 😦

I woke up to the horrendous news about Manchester, and then came home from work to this sad news about Roger. I’m left thinking, could this day get any worse? I’m crushed by his loss. By all accounts Roger was a lovely, down to earth guy. I love him as The Saint and James Bond. I always get annoyed when some people give his Bond era a hard time and focus on the comic elements of his films. He was very good in the role and I think it’s often overlooked that he was actually quite dark and cold in many scenes. R.I.P, Roger. All sympathies to his family and friends.

Yes, it was a really bad day. Both news really got to me. Moore will be so missed. His interpretation of Bond was different but all his own. A real smooth and sophistication.

Never liked him as Bond, but loved him in The Persuadeers, and he was such a funny gent when interviewed, 89 though, not a bad innings.

I mentioned elsewhere that I have fond memories of watching Moore as Bond as well as enjoying his interviews over the years, so as sad as this is, the memories made me smile on a day that’s been a bit grim.

I’m bummed more than ever as not just with the news happening in Manchester which is just revolting. The passing of one of my favorite guys in the world. Roger Moore was my first James Bond and I was in joy of watching him. Though I prefer Connery, Craig, and Dalton, Moore always had a special place in my heart. For my mother and her family including my late grandmother, Moore was a big deal. They loved him as The Saint and later as James Bond as The Spy Who Loved Me is her favorite Bond film. He’s just so fun to watch and will be sorely missed.
