I woke up this morning go the news of Harry Dean Stanton’s death at the age of 91. A perennial scene stealer whose weathered face and sunken eyes were hard to miss, he appeared in too many movies to count. I loved his reliability and ability to imbue oddball characters with charm and memorability, I can’t say I ever saw him make a misstep as an actor. So while it’s a sad loss to the industry, this fine actor has left us with a fine catalogue of performances to revisit time and time again and ensure that his talents live on.
R.I.P Harry Dean Stanton

What a terribly tragic year, so many talented people have gone, everyone of them will be a hard act to follow. R.I.P to all of them.

Wow… incredible man. What I particularly admired about him is that with his talent he always prefered to stay in shades. He had an incredible talent, yet avoided becoming a star.

Yes, I admired that too. He excelled in supporting parts but never got showy or attention seeking. You remembered him when you saw a movie he was in for his excellence and ability to steal a scene quitely.

Yee. And when he did main roles like Repo Men, he just penetrated inside the character.

He was a jack of all trades. It was always fun seeing him pop up in a movie, at times unexpectedly. A definite loss to the entertainment world. I remember first seeing him as the grumbling Brett in Alien.

Yeah, that’s the first film I saw him appear in too 😊 It’s about time that I do a rewatch for that first alien film. It’s been quite a while since I have last seen it.

Definitely one of the best and one of the few actors who always put on a good performance. Even in a bad movie, he can’t suck. The man is a legend and certainly creates performances that are so memorable. Even if it’s something small like his cameo in The Avengers.
