I love my blog and reviewing movies, coupled with talking to all of you fabulous people. But I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my approach to it. My main thought was that I need to change it. My usual approach is that I plan the movies I will review and then act on them. But I’ve found that I’ve been putting way too much pressure on myself in this regard. I have now decided that I will watch movies and then decide whether or not to write about them. I believe this will be most beneficial for me and take the edge off. I don’t know why I put so much pressure on myself, but I’m taking it off now to become more relaxed with what I do. To reiterate, I love blogging and reviewing movies( I can’t picture life without it), but I’ll be using this approach to make me feel better. Going with the flow is that way to go. So don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine with this new method. What do you think of my new approach?
A Different Approach to Reviewing

But please if u watch something really awful please post so I won’t watch it.. Unfortunately i love turds so that probably means I will watch it just because 😆 I give u Troll 2 or Frankenhooker, damn they were bad but I so enjoyed it 😆

Just go with the cinematic flow, V. You have been very industrious, taking on the catalogues of De Palma, Streep, and others. Maybe take a more random approach in future?
Best wishes, Pete.

Random is what I’m going for Pete. Sometimes I put too much pressure on myself when I really shouldn’t. It’s now going to change as I go with the cinematic flow.

That’s exactly what I do. I watch substantially more movies than I review on my side. I’ll only review a movie if it inspires me to write. So, while I may watch some excellent movies, I don’t always feel like writing about them. I only write posts when the mood strikes. Hope that helps.

It’s pretty much how I do it myself. Some movies are easier to review than others. And then there are certain movies that I don’t even know where to start. So it’s never good to put pressure on yourself. I always enjoy reading your reviews, and whatever approach you are going to take, I will continue reading your posts regardless 😊

You’re a really great blogging buddy. I’ve found that just going with the flow will be great for me. My reviews will still be like they are now, I’m just going to be a bit more free about it.

I think that’s the wisest approach to take to benefit your mentality and I do understand where you’re coming from. I personally watch a few movies when in want to review a movie, I take notes and along the way I think about how passionate and connected i feel with a particular one to have enough substance to write about it. As I don’t blog as regularly as some because i find it too overwhelming to do so, but that’s just me.
I think it’s ideal for me mentally too so I enjoy watching other movies in my spare I me without thinking ‘oh here’s another movie I can post about , giving a little more space to fully immerse into the enjoyment. So do what you feel is best.😊

That’s right. I’m lucky, I review on other sites as well now, so get advance copes and go to screenings sometimes ect, but I can’t do everything I get asked to review and cover. Pacing yourself and striking a nice balance that works for you is essential.

I never force myself to write anything. It’s just not fun. So I don’t actually review movies unless I really have something to say and the words just come easily and I don’t have to think too hard what to write. I admire bloggers who review every single film they see but some movies are simply not worth the time and energy to write about them

That’s the attitude I’m adopting. Sometimes I can be very hard on myself and push myself too much, now I’m taking it easy. The last thing I want is blogging to be a chore. It is the best after all.

I support this mind set, especially since I tend to do the same thing.
You should always aim to write about things that you want to write about rather than everything you watch.
Of course, your viewing habits will likely be heavily based on what you want to write about, but if it feels like “work” or “stressful” then you should take a step back and think “Do I really HAVE to write about THIS?”
Looking forward to seeing how this new approach works out for you Vinnie. Best of luck!

Another thought is to keep them on your watchlist on IMDB or other location but don’t write on them unless you want to. Later on you may recall a film and go back and review because it strikes your fancy.
