After the success of my last music themed posts, I decided to continue with them. Over the years I have listened to an array of music and been made to feel all kinds of emotions. Sadness is one emotion that always crops up when I hear people talk of music. So I’m asking, what song moves you and why? Is it the lyrics or the melody? Or is it the overall atmosphere of the tune? Whatever your answer or opinion, please give it.
What songs or music make you cry?

Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody is very sad. It’s also one of my favorite songs of all time.

I’m a little ashamed to say this, but many Carrie Underwood are like a punch to my gut. “Just a Dream” and “Temporary Home” have made me cry at least once. Also, the first time I heard Stevie Wonder’s “Never Dreamed You’d Leave in Summer” was when he sang it at Michael Jackson’s funeral. It’s a moving song already, but remembering that every time I hear it, makes me well up.

I can’t say whether it has ever actually made me cry but Kate Bush’s Rocket’s Tail is one that I’ve always found to be very emotional. It’s not for everyone but I can’t get enough of her work.

Les Miserables has some tear jerkers. Its really the words and the context of the music. “On my own”, “Bring Him Home” and “I Dreamed a Dream” all very emotional songs.

“The magic of love” from “Two Steps from hell” my favourite group. The song is what it says you can feel the magic of love…..it is beautiful, no lyrics but the music is divine!

I think associating a song with personal memories can make it happy, or sad. Because of this, they change through life, often switching emphasis because of break-ups, or good associations. This one brings a lump to my throat.
But so does this, because her life was so sad and the lyrics are heartbreaking.
Cheers mate, Pete.
(PS I wanted to comment on your TV shows category, but I haven’t seen any of them! The differences of age eh?)
