After recently coming across a most excellent post by Suzanne on the Carry On movies and with a recent gift to me being the box set of the beloved comedy series, it seemed only right to begin a feature on here for it. Even if you’ve never seen a Carry On movie, you’ll know of the bawdy franchise of British comedies that contain copious naughtiness and a stalwart cast. I must admit that I’ve only seen two of them, which is pretty shameful. That’s why I’m taking it upon myself to watch and review the long running movie series for your reading pleasure. So keep your eyes out for Carry On reviews. And while I’m discussing them, what are some of your favourite Carry On movies?

I generally like English shows. Loved Benny Hill when I was a kid, and adored the The Young Ones as a teen. Monty Python too, of course.

I’ve seen them all, many many times and they still make me smile whenever I catch them on television. The works outing to Brighton in Carry on at Your Convenience and “Infamy, Infamy, they’ve all got it in for me” are two of my favourite Carry on moments.

I’ve sadly only seen a few, but am rectifying that. They have such a jolly, naughty humour to them that is unmistakable and hilarious. Gotta love the casts too.

The comments from those who never heard of them gave me a laugh. They are in for a shock! My all-time favourite is ‘Carry On Cabby’. I prefer the older ones, as some of the last few were just awful. I also have to give full marks to ‘Carry On Nurse’, ‘Carry On Cleo’ (Infamy, Infamy, they’ve all got in in for me…) and ‘Carry On Screaming’,with Fenella Fielding. ‘Carry On Cruising’ is a very typical carry on film, as is ‘Carry On Up The Khyber’. As you can probably tell, I have seen them all!
Cheers, Pete.

I wouldn’t be too bothered with ‘Carry On Columbus’, ‘Carry On Emmannuelle’, ‘Carry On At Your Convenience’, or ‘Carry On England’. They are all the weakest films, made towards the end of the franchise. But ‘Carry On Matron’ was a good update on the original nurse one. And although it is rather crude, ‘Carry On Girls’ has Margaret Nolan as Dawn Brakes, and she was real glamour totty back then. (She’s on the donkey)

She was the girl on the film poster for ‘Goldfinger’, and she had a small role as a massage girl in the film.

There was some old-style eye candy, but to be honest, it was Kenneth Williams, Hattie Jaques, and cheeky Sid James I liked best. Some of the jokes are just hilariously corny!.

I would say… Screaming, Camping & Cleo, because they’re the best.
Doctor as it’s the best of the medical films. Also Khyber, as that is very well loved.

Carry On Henry (1971) was a good satire on King Henry VIII, which I watched seven years ago!!! Besides that, I don’t recall watching anything else, unless I saw them as a kid!!
