As I’m starting to get back into the swing of things following my move, I’ve decided to get a sense of order. Now I can be notoriously disordered a lot of the time, but I think it’s good to get a bit of balance and routine. I’m still exploring cinema and discovering various things. So here are a few ideas of what will probably feature on my blog in the coming weeks and months.

Hopefully a good few foreign language movies
A good helping of Classic Hollywood
And the Rocky franchise

I’m moving too (albeit, just around the corner from where I live). Still, a lot of stuff to take care of! Movie viewing has been more sporadic for me too for the past few weeks.

Movies to watch ideas… BOUND – Film noir-ish. 1st film by the Wachowskis. Amazing!!! PILLOW BOOK for artsy/foreign film vibes, stunning cinematography, with Ewan McGregor. And for DePalma, BODY DOUBLE.

Martin Scorsese is one of my favourite directors so it will be interesting to read some of your reviews on his movies. And as my name states I love the vintage era and I’ve seen many great noir movies that were amazing. As for foreign movies I love and have seen many Korean movies which is my personal choice. There are many Amish movies such as Oldboy, the good, the bad and the weird and I saw the devil to name a few. I know whatever you choose to feature will always be a good one do it’ll be a great read. ☺

Oh thank you very much. Yes it’s quite varied but also quite particular as I can only enjoy certain types of movies and shows. You have probably seen more Scorsese movies than I have but I admire his way of enticing you into his stories. And I’ve always adored the era of Hitchcock.☺

If you are doing Brian DePalma movies make sure you include his comedies like ‘Hi Mom’ “Greetings’, which also marks Robert DeNiro’s film debut. “Home Movies’ and ‘Wise Guys’ also ‘Phantom of Paradise’

Excellent. I want to watch Silkwood again, soon. Spotlight is one of those that shook me to my core. I studied mass media in college, and while watching it, I was picturing that my life could have been that way, but I didn’t take that particular path. I’ve seen it three times now, and it’s becoming one of my favorite movies.

One classic film I really enjoy recently was Dance, Girl, Dance. I enjoyed your review of Body Double. I never knew there was a remake of both Rear Window and Vertigo, it sounds quite interesting!

What sort of Foreign films are you drawn to? I’ve found myself exploring a wide variety over the past year or so. Anime, Chinese/Hong Kong flicks, Korean Horror, Kurosawa, Polish spy films, Spanish stuff from del Toro and Cuaron. It just kind of happened! So, I am now flush with suggestions, if you’ll just direct me a bit.

For Bergman the initial touchstones are ususally “The Seventh Seal”, “Wild Strawberries”, and then probably the “Trilogy of Faith”: Through a Glass Darkly (1961), Winter Light (1963) and The Silence (1963).
I myself have only seen two of these, but they were sufficient to whet my appetite for more!
