I am deeply saddened to hear of the death of Carrie Fisher, days after she suffered a heart attack. She was taken too young at the age of only 60. I am in complete shock I must say as this is a big loss. For me, she will always be the resourceful Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies. I admired her frankness in her admittance to suffering from depression and drug addiction in the past, she truly was open about it and never shied away from it. While I am very sad to hear of her passing, I take comfort in knowing that her legacy in film is secured and her spirit will live on.

Such a sad loss. A screen icon in the role of Leia, of course, but so much more than that in the form of a talented writer, an advocate for mental health awareness and an empowerer of women.

I still can’t quite digest the news. She was indeed a fantastic woman who admitted her troubles, yet always had something good or witty to say. May the force be with her.

Very true. Her loss will impact many different people for many different reasons. The fact that she touched so many lives is testament to what a complex, fascinating and valued force she was. At least she leaves such a strong legacy behind. Gone but never forgotten, as they say.

I normally never make posts like these, but I just had to make an exception for her and made a post of it myself a few hours ago as well. My evening is pretty much ruined after reading this very sad news. Honestly I still can’t believe she is gone. As you say, at age 60, she was just taken way too young. You made a very nice post…your words are all so true😢

Totally agree, I saw her at the Srar Wars celebration this year on tv, and I just loved how she was always herself. Really a hard loss to take 😢

I liked how she could talk about serious things in her life with honesty and grace. Plus, inject a self-deprecating humour into it.

Yes, in pretty much every interview I saw her in, she did that. Which only made her more awesome in my book.

What an absolute legend. She ushered in a new era for strong female characters and, for that, cinema and cinemagoers will be forever grateful, and it is tragic to see her go.

They are falling like the proverbial dominoes this year, V. Not being a big Star Wars fan, I mainly remember her for the Blues Brothers. I suppose I should count myself lucky to outlive her…

When they said her condition was improving I really thought she’d recover. Terribly sad news and such a loss.

I am shocked. The last I heard she was in stable condition and then poof… gone. I love your tribute to her Vinnie. You encapsulated the essence of the actress and the woman. Well said. 2016 was a cruel year. Be gone with it.💙

I’m pissed. I’m still dealing with George Michael (and I’m still not over Bowie) but this is too much. She was a fucking queen. She was funny as hell. I love her one-woman show Wishful Drinking as it is so fucking hilarious. I think there’s been a Sith lord emerging somewhere here that is been making this year so bad and I want to find that motherfucker.

2016 has been cursed if you want my opinion. So many stars gone, so sad. This really took me by surprise. I was like not Carrie Fisher, this year can’t get any worse.

Pretty sad news. I was hopeful that she’d pull through, but when I read that she wasn’t breathing for so long I became uncertain. May she rest in peace.

I just saw her by coincidence last night in the film I was watching that just happened to be her film debut. It’s in the movie ‘Shampoo’ with Warren Beatty and Goldie Hawn. Fisher has a small role,but makes quite an impression. I’ll be reviewing it tomorrow on my blog, but I suggest you watch it as it is a very funny, sexy ’70s comedy.

Of course she will always be princess Leia but her books are her major strength, she wrote very frank but at the same time with such humour in her books.

I thought she’d pull through. So sad she wasn’t able to. Just dreadful news. As well as inspiring people on screen as Princess Leia, she inspired so many off-screen. I put up a tribute and will do one for George Michael soon. A rotten 2016.
