I am a huge fan of the legendary Angela Lansbury. I mean her work ethic and quota of stage, screen and theatre appearances is staggering. For many people, they remember her for playing the amiable mystery novelist Jessica Fletcher in Murder, She Wrote, who solved various crimes with her knack for detail and peerless observations. Now I love the show and I like how it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Plus, you have the delightful Lansbury as excellent as ever playing the sharp-minded Jessica, who always seems to be two steps ahead of everyone else. I don’t think I’ve come across anyone who doesn’t love Murder, She Wrote. I mean, what’s not to love? I continue to watch the show on re-runs because it just has that nostalgic quality to it. Please let me know your opinions on the show.

Haha, so very true. It was like people would murder others just so she would solve the crime!

Well we all have different opinions. I promote variety in it, it would be a bore if we all liked the same thing.

Yes, I do sometimes wish people who disagree would talk to one another more. I have had revolting messages from people who disagreed with some of my “opinion pieces” and it made me so angry because I’m always happy to hear from people who disagree with me as long as they make a proper case and don’t resort to personal attacks.
How else is the world to make progress if the people who talk to each other always agree? It’s surely by talking to one another-when we have different opinions-that we can work towards a resolution, or at least towards tolerance.
Sorry if this is rather heavy 😉

No, never apologise. I too can listen to the opinions of others, even if I don’t agree. Just as long as they take mine into consideration and can respect mine too.

My Mum always loved to watch this, but I confess I was never a fan. It was all a bit too comfortable for me, a bit like ‘Midsomer Murders’ was, over here. Lansbury was a great actress, and did much better stuff than MSW. Like this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Picture_of_Dorian_Gray_(1945_film) and this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Manchurian_Candidate_(1962_film)
Cheers mate, Pete.

I’m not certain what Word Press has done to our Reader page, but I don’t like it at all.. Murder She Wrote I must say was one of my faves.. So, much so a few years ago my son got me the entire series on DVD.. I’m so happy to just pop in a dvd and watch to my hearts content… Take care, Laura

I find it to be endlessly watchable. You can just watch an episode with no knowledge of anything else and be entertained.

I always love the endings in murder mysteries where they hammer the guilty one or ones in a corner with their summaries. Yes I loved watching the show.

I liked “Murder She Wrote” well enough, however, I’m a huge fan of Angela Lansbury, who I consider one of the greatest actresses around. She was incredible in “The Manchurian Candidate” and several other films such as “The World of Henry Orient” with Peter Sellers. and also in many Tony-winning theater roles, most notably “Mame”, “Gypsy” and “Sweeney Todd.”

Great post 🙂 Angela Lansbury is always great in whatever she is in 🙂 Aside from Murder She Wrote and The Manchurian Candidate (she was great in both), I also remember her from Beauty and the Beast (she voiced that Tea Pot) and she also played the granny in Neil Jordan’s 1984 werewolf film The Company of Wolves. Anyway, keep up the great work as always 🙂
