The other day, I found myself looking back on some of my older reviews. I thought it was interesting to look at how my writing style had improved and changed since the blog’s inception. So it dawned on me that I should do a post for everyone out there with links to my older reviews to see what you all thought of them. Feel free to comment on them as I for know that my style has definitely changed, but I do so love hearing your thoughts to. How do you rate my writing style in the beginning to how it is now?

I cringe when I see that old posts have been looked at lol. When ever I have a spare moment I try to spruce up the more popular posts lol

There are times when I look back and I think, “Did I really write that?”.

Same here. I look back some of the old movie review posts and personally shudder at them. I try to “spice” them up a bit (adding stuff here and there). However, I do reflect on how much my writing style has changed (for the better).

Had already commented on some, but just caught up with the ones I had missed. I don’t think your earlier reviews had anything wrong with them at all. They still have that ‘Vinnie style’!
Cheers, Pete.

Just that you always approach your reviews in a certain way, and use a similar format. You also tend to comment on the soundtrack, something I rarely do. You have a good style, so that’s a positive comment!

Why thanks for that vote of confidence Pete. It’s good to have you as a follower I must say. You give me such great comments and advice.

Okay, these were older posts: well all I can say about them is this: you should be proud of them😀 They are great posts, and honestly don’t have a lot of difference in the way that you are writing your posts now. I have always enjoyed reading your (truly very diverse) reviews on all types of movies I have sometimes not even heard of, and the older posts were just as great to read as the current ones. Which brings me back to my first sentence: be proud 😀

Why thank you for that very nice comment and positive energy you gave. I think my reviews have improved in terms of structure and layout more than anything.

I think they all look great, Vinnie (and I’m not just saying that, I swear). You have a knack and we (your audience) are all the better for it.
Looking back can be fun. From here, I sometimes look back through the old KMA stuff and get a chuckle. Not because I’ve progressed at all past those early posts – my writing on there has always been goofy and unprofessional. It’s just fun to go back and see if I agree with myself on the records I covered ages ago (heck, KMA started over ten years ago!). Usually, I do agree with past me, so I have that going for me which is nice…
Your site rocks, Vinnie. Keep up the fine work!

I try to experiment with the movies I watch and that has increased over the years. I go for more variety.

Nice older posts man. Still as good as your current ones. I was looking at some of my older posts too, and my grammar was so much worse back then lol.

Thanks Liam. My grammar and structure of paragraphs has got better I think.

Despite not even writing long I cringe at my older work! Show’s how far we come fairly quickly.

I’m afraid I don’t have time to read your old reviews, but your right our writing style changes and to me it can be a little embarrassing to look back 🙂
Yet also useful to have a film diary to remind myself of my opinions, as I can’t remember it all in my head. Blog interaction peaked 2-3 years ago on my site, but it’s nice to have those online friendships to look back on.

I like your idea of a film diary, sounds very useful. I could do one of those. Thanks for the idea.

I’m forgetful 🙂 So I usually write a small review for every film, album, book. I use letterboxd, RYM, and Goodreads for keeping diaries of ratings+reviews. (I’m annoyed I didn’t keep a record going even furthur back as many of my opinions as a teen are lost)
