The other day, a friend and I were discussing television shows that we watched as kids and reflected on. It got me thinking about all of the stuff I watched as a child. Today, I’m talking of one of my favourites from childhood, Recess. The Disney show that shaped my younger years, I have fond memories of watching this amusing show. The basic premise was of a group of elementary school kids and the adventures they’d get up to, primarily at recess. The group consisted of rebellious T.J, tomboy Spinelli, sporty Vince, smart Gretchen, gentle giant Mikey and awkward army brat Gus. The show focused on life on the playground, which in this case had its own class structure and even a king. Watching it as a kid and the show being from a child’s point of view endeared it to me so much and I do look back on watching the show with good memories. The feelings of fun watching Recess were second to none as the gang hot into all sorts of trouble and misadventures. I hope you enjoyed reading my reflection on Recess and how it was one of my go to television shows as a child.

What a lovely post Vinnie! It’s amazing how there’s certain tv shows and books that even as adults we still look back upon nostalgically. My favorite childhood series was Sesame St. and My husband’s was Mr. Rogers

I remember watching this show as it was towards the end of my childhood. However, I do remember it and thought it was pretty good. Always loved the tribal Kindergarteners.

Ah, good times! I loved this show because of Andy Lawrence’s character (from S2-S6) T.J. I had a HUGE thing for Andy Lawrence back then. 😛

I don’t know this show, but that is probably because it never aired on television here. I love the look of the characters though 😀 Ah yes, childhood memories, always fun to think back on those days. I grew up watching fun factory and all those great saturday morning cartoons, like Heman and Transformers. They don’t make them like they used to 😀

I know that feeling when you recall your childhood’s TV shows. It’s really a wonderful feeling.
Sometimes, my wife and I discuss TV shows that we watched as kids, then we play a game of remembering those TV shows songs and melodies.
Also sometimes, I go to buy some of those TV shows on DVDs for our children.

Oh what good old times. Back then I could only watch it during my summer holidays which we spent always in our cottage in Finland. There we had a satelite dish and because of that I had Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, stuff I could never get with cable in Germany :p

Way to make me feel old! I have heard of this show though. I was just about to finish high school when it came out but I lived a bit far from school by then so I didn’t have a chance to watch much morning/afternoon TV from 1999 until I graduated.
There were so many cartoons around when I was growing up. Thundercats, Silverhawks, TMNT, then the whole Disney Adventures series, Looney Tunes… I’m glad you have something that brings you happy memories from childhood. It’s always good to have these anchors.

Reading this was a delight and transported me back to my own childhood. I sat here for a few moments and tried to remember just which cartoon I enjoyed the most, and wam, bam, two came back as if it were just yesterday laying on my stomach in front of the telly, giggling and dreaming away.. The Jetsons, and Astro Boy… Thanks for the blast memories of the past….oh and I can’t forget The Flintstones…..
🙂 Take care, Laura 🙂

A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.
Except that, of course, it DOES constitute an emergency for the rest of us because deadlines still have to be met.
It’s all good. When I go home, I try not to think about it at all!
