In the spirit of October, I have a question relating to horror for all of you other there. I ask, who is your favourite Scream Queen? Now I will say I am not referring to the television show of the same name here, I am talking about the actresses that you regularly see in the horror genre. There have been so many and all so varied. So which lady who frequents the scary genre is your favourite?
Drew Barrymore in Scream. She definitely put the “scream” in scream queen.

She opened that film perfectly. And yes, she did put the scream in scream queen.

Jamie Lee Curtis for me

I think she is many people’s choice. She was one of the originals after all.

I can’t weigh in on this, but Jamie Lee Curtis is a fantastic actress in general and I love that she’s aging naturally instead of trying to look like she’s still 30 years old. True beauty!

I love Jamie Lee Curtis. She really has had a great career. And I respect her for not trying to look young. She still looks amazing.

She certainly does!

I rarely watch horror, but I’d give an honourable mention to Michelle Pfeiffer in What Lies Beneath!

Nice choice there Paul. I liked Michelle in that film, she really played terrified very well. I could feel her panic.

I’ve got to go with Jamie Lee Curtis also Vinnie! She’s the first one that pops into my head whenever that question comes up. And, now that she’s on Ryan Murphy’s Scream Queens, well that just is icing on the cake!💁🏻

I like that she is still remembered as a horror icon as well as great actress. Her, Sigourney Weaver and Neve Campbell are my favourite Scream Queens.

I love Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, but nothing, nothing beats Heather Langenkamp as Nancy in Nightmare on Elm Street and Dream Warriors, or as herself in New Nightmare.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Even though I have only seen the first Elm Street, I loved Nancy in that. She was integral in fighting Freddy with her knack for survival and resourcefulness.
LikeLiked by 1 person
A lot more initiative than most Final Girls. Laurie tries, but she’s ultimately saved by Loomis in Halloween I and II. It takes until H20 for her to finally kill Michael herself. Nancy kills Freddy herself…twice.

I like as well how she isn’t a big screamer. Sure she let’s out a few shocking gasps, but she never flaps and is always grounded. Do you think I’d like the Elm Street sequels?

I’d suggest at least checking out number 3 (Dream Warriors). It’s really fun. 4’s pretty good-ish, 5 could be worse, and I would not recommend 2 or 6. They’re really bad. Do check out New Nightmare, it’s meta as hell, and kind of a precursor to Scream.

I’ve noted them down. Been hearing good things about New Nightmare.

And speaking of initiative, my favourite Scream Queen is Ripley. The take no shit tough attitude and emotional heart just resonate a lot with me.

I always forget she’s even a Scream Queen! She’s an action hero in my head because of Aliens. She’s a lot like Sarah Connor. Guess James Cameron likes that narrative of becoming a badass.

Yep she’s a bad ass of the highest order. I look at her as a scream queen and action hero.

Everyone is mentioning Drew Barrymore, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Heather Langenkamp. They’re icons in the genre but I want to give props to someone who I love as a scream queen. Linnea Quigley. I grew up watching those B-horror movies she’s in and she is always fun to watch.

Cliché, but, Jamie Lee Curtis.
If I was to pick someone else that wasn’t that popular, Amy Steel.

Jamie Lee Curtis is proving to be a popular choice naturally, as well as Sigourney Weaver of course. Nice to see you choose someone else that wasn’t cliched.

Yes, I love Amy Steel. Her chracter Giny must be the smartest final girl of all time.

I don’t really have a favourite. It’s usually no point in getting attached, as they’ll likely get killed.

I know Sissy Spacke is not an actress who is synonymous with the horror genre, but I think her performance in Carrie was brilliant.
