I highly enjoyed writing about photography the last time I did it. And seeing the continued good response to it, I thought it was best to discuss another photographer and a certain set of photographs with you. Today is Mario Testino and his towel series. There is something very simplistic to these shots, and the black and white brings touches of sophistication to them. An organic and natural feeling emerges from the shots, allowing the subjects to be captured in a state of undress but a feeling of being comfortable too. I am a real sucker for black and white photography as it oozes class. And there is just something about taking simplicity and making it very good that I glean from these shots. Be the judge yourself, what do you think?

These are indeed very classy Vinnie. I’ve aways had a passion for back and white photography. Whether the photos are of people or things like flowers, back and white allows you to see so much more.

Ever since I can remember, black and white photography has had an impact on me. It reminds me of an old-fashioned style of shot.

Soccer players in general, they’re all lean and yet muscled too. And I think Ronaldo is a pretty good guy, too. Adds to his appeal.

I’m all for black and whites. When I did photojournalism and all the dark room work (yes I am old), I loved the black and whites best. Testino is awesome, a great eye.
On another note, this series pleases me because, as Douglas Adams suggested to us all, it’s good to know (at all times) where your towel is.
