I’ve just read the news of the death of musical legend Prince at the age of 57. I’m am so shocked by this news. Prince was a real icon of music who burned himself into pop culture. With his mastery of instruments, massive voice, outrageous dress sense and button-pushing lyrics, he was one in a million. A true visionary who did things his way and crossed genres with finesse and style. I’m choosing to remember the amazing talent of this man, despite the sadness. Prince will be missed for his superb talent.

I was shocked to hear as well. He was the music of my generation in the 80’s and 90’s. I can tell you, doves are not the only ones crying.

Nobody like him, V. Another to add to the list of those who have passed in the last year.
So much good music, at least that will live on for him.
Cheers, Pete.

Saw him live once, 20 years ago or more. Still one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. He doesn’t get enough credit as an instrumentalist. One of the best guitar players I’ve ever seen in person. RIP. 😕

I’m so saddened by this. Prince was such an inspiration, especially for a small-town Minnesotan girl like me. His songs were my teenage soundtrack of life and he doesn’t get enough credit for how he transformed the music industry. He also was the one who “discovered” Mariah Carey back in the day. I’ll miss him.

I met him a few times and he was so gracious. He put Minnesota on the music scene map and he didn’t let anyone tell him how to live his life. I still remember back in 1984 when he had two female guitarists. It was shocking and he just smiled. 🙂

Yeah I did. He loved Minnesota and you can drive past his house. I was 18 the last time I met him. I was so shy back then. I helped him find some books and when I was done, he said something I’ll never forget.
“You’re a beautiful soul. Never let anyone tell you different. Peace.”
I never forgot that and his words helped shape me. 🙂

Nothing Compared To Him……………A pocket dynamite (5 Foot 2 Inches)……..As with Bowie, Prince was one of those iconic artists who were indestructible………would always be around……….Check out his cover of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” at a George Harrison tribute concert…….a brilliant guitarist!
A great catalogue of music and the classic “Purple Rain” film! Apparently had 6,000 unreleased songs……..incredible!
We are all doves………..and at this point, we all cry!!

so incredibly devastating to lose such a beautiful soul. i like to imagine though that somewhere there is one hell of a jam session going on and he is front and center playing his guitar and belting out all of who he is.
