With this month being October and Halloween soon to be here, I always dig out my stash of horror movies to scare the living hell out of me in the build up to the spooky day. Today I ask, what movies will you watch in the build up to Halloween? Will it be gore galore of psychological twists? Voracious werewolves or menacing vampires? Whatever you decide, please let me know.

I’m a huge fan of psychological horror. When it makes you think. I don’t mind gore, but there’s something very chilling about unexplained noises, haunted houses and things like that.

I’m watching a few movies from this year but they’ve been mostly bad so far. A friend and I decided to watch one long running series in its entirety this month though, after weighing up some options we settled on Halloween as neither of us have seen many of those before. I’m hoping to keep a running blog as I go.

I doubt I will be watching any horror that night, as Julie doesn’t enjoy scary films. Besides, we don’t ‘do’ Halloween, it has become too Americanised.

Me and Kim are going to watch The Others! Can’t wait. I haven’t seen it for ages but it’s such a great ghost story.
I will also watch some others leading up to Halloween (to review hopefully) and MOST DEFINITELY something on Halloween night! Something classic no doubt, an old movie. I’m thinking about Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original) and then something supernatural too 🙂 any recommendations?!!!

I’d say 96% on Rotten Tomatoes means it’s “alright.” The critics consensus seems to sum it up:
“Critics Consensus: Smart, original, and above all terrifying, It Follows is the rare modern horror film that works on multiple levels — and leaves a lingering sting.”

We’ve not finalised out list yet, but it usually includes a ‘decent’ or classic horror (such as Halloween or Texas Chain Saw) but also a lot of cheesy horrors/slashers/monster movies. Last year we had Sharknado, this year I’m thinking I’ll have to finally give in to my other half and watch Birdemic!
However, one of my favourites from recent horror-fests has been Trick ‘r Treat.
Might have to rewatch some Guillermo del Toro gems though – possibly catch Crimson Peak too 🙂
