A stunning international siren of beauty and talent, Monica Bellucci is the definition of a woman that will stop you in your tracks and today she turns 51. Yet there is a whole lot of talent and depth to her in her acting work that I think often goes unnoticed because of her stunning appearance. Her acting for me is all about shaded subtlety and nuance, she doesn’t need any big shouting scenes as she can say so much just with her face. Bellucci for me is just an all round personality, she has a sense of humour in interviews, her speaking voice is so mellifluous to listen to and she just exudes star quality. And I for one can’t wait to see her in the next Bond movie Spectre. So here is a photographic look at her wonderful career to celebrate her birthday.

Ridiculous to think she’s over the hill in terms of age. Nothing about her appearance or her incredible power on screen suggests she is, though. I really like her role choices, they’re dramatic and usually pretty damn heavy. What really sticks out the most to me is her appearance in Gaspar Noe’s ‘Irreversible.’ Talk about a difficult movie.

I like how she talks about age, she says its just a number and nothing more. Which is so true. Glad to here someone agrees that she’s a great actress and not just merely attractive. I haven’t seen Irreversible but I’ve heard it’s such a brutal watch.

It’s one of the worst things I’ve ever tried watching. Haven’t yet finished it, but it’s largely Monica Bellucci’s strong work that makes it so brutal. You’re right saying that she is often overlooked bc of her stunning looks, bc underneath all that is an intense and great talent

I’ve not really seen her in that many movies to be honest but I believe ya definitely! She’s a siren. I love Shoot Em Up, it’s really funny and over the top. Paul Giamatti is wonderful in it. Monica is very racy hee hee!
I don’t really like Irreversible. Obviously ‘the scene’ is very horrible anyway but by doing the movie in reverse the rest of the film falls kinda flat (IMO)

Well, it is a nicely written article, but I firmly believe that Monica hasn’t been able to get what she deserved in Hollywood. She really is a much better actor than what her Hollywood career suggests.
