The character of Lisbeth Salander is one I’m sure many will have heard of. After all, she is the computer hacking, gothic heroine of the million selling Millenium book trilogy, a trilogy of Swedish films and an American version. The question today is, which actress do you prefer as the intelligent and kick ass Lisbeth? Noomi Rapce of the original trilogy or Rooney Mara’s incarnation of Stieg Larsson’s famous character?
Which actress caprtures the many sides of her character? Whatever your view or opinion, please give it as I would interested to hear people’s thoughts.

I haven’t seen the original yet but I think that Rooney Mara did a pretty good job in the role.

I haven’t seen either yet but I’m usually a fan of original versions so my money’s on Noomi Rapace. I’ve recorded the original trilogy over the Christmas break so hope to see them soon!

Hard for me to comment properly here Vinnie as I’ve not seen the remake with Mara. However, she has to be something special to beat Rapace. She was outstanding in that role.

I just bought the US version with Mara as Lisbeth but I still have to see it. I really thought that Rapace grasped the role of Lisbeth really well in the original and her character pulled me in almost as much as the books itself did. I’ll try to get to the US version some time this month probably.

Hard question since I love both a lot, but I’ll give the slight edge to Mara. She was truly frightening when she needed to be and showed vulnerability too.

Lookwise for the character of Lisbeth, hands down Rooney Mara. Due to great stylists, she looked more unique than Rapace. Acting wise remains to be decided as I have not yet received the Swedish version. But Mara was really, really good in the role, so Rapace has a run for her money.

Both excellent, but Noomi Rapace just edges it, but Mara was hotter 🙂

Oh yeah, both excellent in the roles. I preferred both films over the books strangely, found the books went on forever

I’ve only seen Rapace’s interpretation and so can’t really comment, except to say that Mara would have had a tough job to do as well/better than Rapace. I do mean to see it and so hopefully will actually have an opinion on this soonish 😀

Damn that is a real tough call. I’m forced to go with Mara’s version of Salander. She’s the winner by a nose…. ring.

I think Rooney Mara did a good job in the role, but Noomi Rapace embodied Lisbeth Salander physically, emotionally and psychologically. At times Mara looked more like someone pretending to be dangerous while when you watch Noomi in the role her grasp of the character never made me think she was pretending to be dangerous.

Thanks, I do think that Rapace was the one who seemed the most dangerous out of the two.

Ahh, a question of questions, right there. Damn tough call. I just finished rewatching Fincher’s version and I don’t know. I LOVE Rooney, but I think I’m more drawn to Noomi.
